A.S.A.P.  Modeling with RiverFLO-2D

Advanced

RiverFLO-2D v3 uses a powerful finite element solution algorithm that solves most of the shortcomings of comparable models. The explicit time-stepping algorithm does not require solution of large matrix systems avoiding convergence issues and providing fast efficient parallelization.

Stable

RiverFLO-2D v3 provides one of the fastest and more stable 2D finite element models commercially available for supercritical and subcritical flows. The computer code has been parallelized using OpenMP directives providing considerable computer-time savings and taking advantage of multi-core computers (Duo/Quad, etc.) that use MS-Windows XP or Windows 7 operating systems.

Accurate

RiverFLO-2D v3 provides a mass conservative and robust dry-wet treatment method that allows simulating large dry mesh areas without generating artificial velocities or surging. The model reports on volume conservation allowing users to assess the model accuracy as the simulation progresses.

Productive

RiverFLO-2D v3 minimizes time consuming model setup, letting you run more scenarios and concentrating in the actual model application and results analyses. RiverFLO-2D helps you be more productive allowing starting the simulation with the real initial conditions even if the whole river bed is dry. RiverFLO-2D v3 links to two of the better stablished Graphical User Interfaces:  Argus Open Numerical Environment (Argus ONE) and Aquaveo's Surface water Modeling System (SMS). These GIS-integrated software systems provide interactive functions to generate and refine the finite element mesh, and many post processing tools.

RiverFLO-2D LT is the FREE version of the RiverFLO-2D model. It has virtually the same capabilities of the professional version v3, but it is limited to meshes of less than 2000 triangular elements. This version is completely free to download, and comes with documentation in PDF format. It does not have technical support.
